1. Suddenly Denmark is the world capital of punk music.  Last year’s debut from Iceage was one of the year’s most earth-scorching records, and now we’re introduced to Lower, a tremendously exciting group with a single EP to its name.  Enjoy “Craver,” and expect the EP to become available soon via Escho records.

  2. All the DC touchstones are present on this track from Capital-City punks Imperial China: Rites of Spring, Fugazi, The Dismemberment Plan.  Battles show their face as well, as do various Zach Hill project.  This all makes for a track that is both engaging and fascinating, and one that should appeal to fans of punk and polyrhythm everywhere.  The band’s third LP, How We Connect, is out now via Sockets Records.

  3. We caught Ceremony’s crushing performance at Milwaukee’s DIY Borg Ward this weekend, and got to talk to the band for quite a while. A review/interview to come this week. You’ve been warned.

  6. The Men - Animal

While it’s an extremely lame thing to say, we must admit that punk’s not dead. Brooklyn hardcore meets pub rock band The Men released Open Your Heart yesterday, and god damn is it good. Ever wonder what a Pavement influenced Minor Threat album would sound like? Wonder no more.
